Notification of upcoming work – A14 Kelmarsh – 26 January to May 2026
Re: A14 Kelmarsh Geotechnical work
We’ve previously written to you regarding our upcoming essential maintenance on the A14 eastbound between junctions 2 and 3. As part of the work, we’ll be undertaking the following activities.
- Vegetation clearance
- Installation of drains in the embankment
- Renewal or replacement of failing embankment
- Re-instatement of the topsoil and seeding after completing the drainage work
When will this work take place?
To minimise disruption for road users we’re reprogramming the work whilst other schemes on the A14 progress.
Our new planned start date is 26 January 2026 to May 2026.
This is dependent on the progress of other schemes on the A14 and is subject to further change.

What does this mean for you?
In order to carry out this work safely, we’ll install a full closure of the A14 eastbound from junctions 2 to 3 including slip roads. We’ll also need to close the lay-bys 24/7 during the works.
During the closures, a fully signed diversion will be in place. Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout.
We’ll make every effort to ensure the impact on the local community and travelling public is kept to a minimum. We always aim to work to the programme, however unforeseen circumstances or adverse weather conditions may mean changes.
Please accept our apologies in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.
