Cadent gas emergency closure. Ditchford Road, Rushden
There was an emergency closure implemented yesterday on Ditchford Road, Rushden by Cadent Gas. (the road over the River Nene, connecting the west of Rushden with Wellingborough and Irthlingborough)
Highways England realise this is causing concern due to the planned full closure at the A6/A45 Chowns Mill roundabout this weekend.
Cadent has closed the road in both directions for safety and are working to repair this. NCC NRSWA team have been to the site to assess and review the situation; as of yesterday they were working to repair the issue and reopen the road but could not confirm how long it would take.
Northamptonshire Highways realise how important it is that the road is reopened. It is not possible to stop the gas works happening as it is essential the fault is repaired. Highways are working with Cadent to get Ditchford Road opened for Friday. If this is not possible temporary two way lights will be installed to manage the traffic over the weekend.
Highways England are aware too and have their full closure at A6/A45 Chowns Mill roundabout this weekend. Friday 12 March 8pm to Monday 15 March 5am. This closure has been planned for a long time and will go ahead. Works may change depending on weather or any unforeseen circumstances. If you do need to make an essential journey during this weekend, please plan ahead and allow more time for your journey.
Everyone involved is doing all they can to ensure this route is reopened before Highways England close the approaches to Chowns Mill on Friday evening.
An update will be provided on Friday – sooner if Cadent Gas are able to complete their repairs.
Highways England will be providing updates on Twitter @nnhighways.
