Have your say on strategy to prevent homelessness
Residents in Daventry District are invited to have their say on a strategy to prevent homelessness and help rough sleepers.
Daventry District Council (DDC) has published its draft Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Strategy for 2020, which aims to: prevent and relieve homelessness; provide sufficient accommodation; provide support for those who are or may become homeless; and prevent and respond to rough sleeping.
The Strategy contains an action plan for how the Council will work towards these aims, including working with charities and faith groups on projects to help low-income families get help, and continued engagement with rough sleepers to help them find accommodation, especially during cold weather.
Other actions include promoting DDC’s Private Sector Leasing Scheme, under which the Council leases homes from landlords so they can be sublet to eligible families in need of housing.
The Strategy follows on from a similar one which ran from 2014 to 2019 and is intended to run up until the reorganisation of local government in 2021, when DDC will become part of a West Northamptonshire unitary authority.
People are invited to have their say on the Strategy between now and 4.30pm on Friday 20 December by visiting www.daventrydc.gov.uk/consultation
Printed copies are also available to view at Daventry District Council’s offices in Lodge Road, Daventry, during the consultation period and paper copies of the survey can be sent on request by phoning 01327 871100.
