Weekend closure – A14 Westbound, between junctions 2 and 1
Weekend closure – A14 Westbound, between junctions 2 and 1
Highways England will be carrying out overnight road works on the A14 westbound, between A14 junctions 2 (A508 Maidwell/Kelmarsh) and 1 (Welford).
By carrying out routine maintenance work now, they can reduce the need for emergency closures and/or more comprehensive packages of work which necessitate longer closures.
This work will start on Sunday, 2 June 2019 and will be complete by Monday, 3 June
2019.
Please note that all planned roadworks are subject to change due to weather conditions or unforeseen circumstances.
To minimise inconvenience and disruption to the travelling public, they will carry out the work overnight from 9pm to 5am. To maintain a safe environment for their workforce and customers, they will need to fully close the carriageway between A14 junctions 1 and 2 while they work on it.
While the road is closed, they will put in place fully signed diversion routes which have been agreed with the local authority. The main diversion route will take traffic southbound from A14 junction 2 via the A508 Harborough Road towards Northampton, then traffic will travel northbound on the A5199 before re-joining the A14 at junction 1.
Heavy vehicles are politely asked to follow the diversion route which will help minimise the overnight disturbance experienced by communities in the surrounding area.
