Consultation on shaping specialist provision for children and young people with Education, Health and Care Plans
Northamptonshire County Council is consulting on additional special provision in the county for children and young people with Education, Health and Care Plans.
Increasing the capacity of authorities to make provision for children and young people with Education, Health and Care Plans has been supported by the Department of Education through a Capital Grant. The recently published Special Schools and Designated Units sufficiency report details the current provisions and identifies gaps in provision in and within districts and the numbers of young people who need to move outside their district to access special education.
This consultation provides the opportunity to shape the additional provision to be commissioned to ensure there is greater capacity in Northamptonshire to provide children and young people with an Education Health and Care Plan access to local specialist provision that meets their needs and supports them to be part of the community in which they live.
